Islamic Couple poses with Anti-CAA slogans on wedding day :Trends in Social media
A Muslim couple and their relatives have become the talk of the town for carrying anti-CAA posters during their wedding ceremony. The incident took place in Kuniyamuthur, a city in Coimbatore.
The groom Mohammad and his wife Aprina along with their relatives were seen posing on the stage with posters stating "No CAA, NRC." The pictures of the couple and their relatives are going viral on WhatsApp.
The act of holding posters during the wedding ceremony was a strong statement made by the entire family in protest against the centre and the Citizenship Amendment Act. The wedding took place at Aisha Mahal, Kuniamuthur Coimbatore on Sunday.
This isn't the first time that an anti-CAA protest has taken place at a wedding. Earlier too, brides and grooms in Kannur, Kozhikode and Thalassery in Kerala carried out anti-CAA protests during their marriage ceremonies.
People have used the medium of their wedding cards, pre-wedding 'Save the Date' photoshoots and even their mehendi to protest against CAA and NRC.
The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed by the Rajya Sabha on December 18, 2019. CAB gives Indian citizenship to the non-Muslims of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
According to the act, non-Muslim refugees, who came to India before December 31, 2014, to escape religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be granted Indian citizenship.
