Baba Ramdev advises Deepika to get good advice from people like him

Baba Ramdev has advice for Deepika Padukone -- the "right advice", he says.

The target of right-wing ire ever since she turned up at the JNU campus last week, Padukone "should first study social, political and cultural issues and understand more about our country," Ramdev said yesterday in Indore.

"After acquiring this knowledge, she should take big decisions," the yoga guru said.

Deepika Padukone's show of solidarity with protesting students sparked calls for a boycott of her new film, Chhapaak, from various right-wing groups and some BJP leaders, and divided public opinion: many lauded her courage, but some saw her visit as an attempt to promote the movie.

"I feel that Deepika Padukone should have persons like Swami Ramdev for the right piece of advice," Baba Ramdev said.

Deepika Padukone's appearance at JNU came days after masked goons ran amok inside the varsity campus on January 5, targeting students and staff and vandalising property in what the varsity teachers' association called an "orgy of violence".

Padukone said she was "very angry at what is happening but it is worse that no action is being taken".
