Corona Virus Outbreak : Vijay 's Master release date postponed to June

Vijay's upcoming film, Master, is one of the most-anticipated films this summer. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was supposed to hit the screens on April 9. The latest buzz is that the film, produced by Xavier Britto, might get postponed to June.

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, theatres in India have been shut down till April 15. Further, the USA government has decided to close all theatres for about six to twelve weeks. Vijay has a great fan following in the USA and his films perform exceptionally well in the international market.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to reveal the closure of theatres in the international arena. He wrote, "#USA: AMC Theatres closed for 6-12 weeks... OFFICIAL statement... #CoronaVirus #COVID19 #AMCTheatres (sic)."

Apart from the US, theatres in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji will remain shut till May end. "#BreakingNews: ALL theatres [Event, Village] shut for 8 weeks *till May-end* 2020 in #Australia, #NZ, #Fiji... NO new release in that region *till May-end*... Hoyts shut too. FYI: #Indian filmmakers, distributors, Studios. #Sooryavanshi #83TheFilm #Radhe #LaxmmiBomb #CoolieNo1 (sic), " he added.

Since the international box office collection constitutes a major portion of the film's revenue, it is impossible for the makers of Master to have its release restricted to India. According to sources, producer Xavier Britto and director Lokesh Kanagaraj are planning to release the film in June.
